Burriana
Of the 13 Kms of beaches in Nerja the most popular is Burriana Beach which has again been awarded its Blue Flag status this year. It is a great place for holidays with many water sports being available from the beach in summer. The beach is lined with chirinquitos (beach restaurants) and with a variety of modern bars, restaurants and shops. Nowadays many people spend their whole holiday in this area which makes it of interest to those looking to buy a property where they also want good rental income when they are not using it, or for those who just want a home close to the main beach.

Caleta
Caleta is situated 20 minutes west of Nerja and 5 minutes from Torre del Mar, with a drive of approximately 35minutes to the airport in Malaga.
The town has a number of attractions close by, including the marina and the 18 hole golf course Baviera. In addition there is a waterpark, large shopping centre with bowling alley and multi cinema all within easy access. The town itself has many shops and restaurants as well as a market on a Saturday. The district hospital is close by.

Capistrano
The Capistrano area of Nerja was constructed approx 30 years ago in the style of the spanish pueblos. The area consists of Capistrano Pueblo (the original village), Capistrano Oasis and San Juan De Capistrano right on the outskirts of Nerja.
The Capistrano villages have always been well maintained with its pretty white houses and fantastic gardens and communal pools. The facilities in these areas are very good with bars, restaurants, shops and a number of sports facilities including a tennis club and municipal indoor swimming pool close by. The area is also served well by the town urbano bus, handy for those without a car.

Frigiliana
Less than 6kms north of Nerja you will find the award winning Frigiliana village situated in the foothills of the Almijara mountain range, it has spectacular mountain and sea views. The narrow windy streets have numerous craft shops, cafes , bars and places to purchase the home produced Frigiliana wine. As you carry on up the village you will find the church with a pleasant plaza opposite where you can enjoy a meal. Along the way the history of Frigiliana can be seen on 12 mosaics that are dotted around the old quarter.
The village has probably all the amenities that you need but there is also a good local transport service to Nerja.

Ladera del Mar/Punta Lara
To the West of Nerja the popular areas of Punta Lara, Tropicana and Ladera del Mar are built on the hillside which gives most of the apartments and villas have panoramic sea views. This area is 5 minutes drive from Nerja but there is a pleasant walk along the beach which brings you to the centre of Nerja. The area also has a number of bars and restaurants.

La Herradura
La Herradura meaning horseshoe is named to reflect the shape of its large bay. It has recently become far easier to access due to the completion of the motorway, making it only 10 minutes from Nerja. This stretch of coastline is collectively known as Costa Tropical and falls within the province of Granada, it boasts 300 days of sunshine a year. It is popular for its water sports and paragliding.
Marina del Este to the east has a beautiful marina, whilst Almunecar is home to the international school with buses collecting pupils from surrounding towns and villages. The Areas of Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo are situated at either side of the bay and here are some of the nicest villas with spectacular views.

La Noria
The area of La Noria, on the outskirts of Nerja is mainly a residential area. In addition to the established townhouses, apartments and detached villas a number of new developments of townhouses have taken place. The area is within walking distance of Nerja Town centre and is close to the bus route between Nerja / Frigiliana making it easy for people to access local facilities. In the immediate vicinity are shops, restaurants, bars and a tennis court.

Maro
The pretty village of Maro is situated 3 km to the east of Nerja. Close by you will find the famous caves of Nerja discovered in 1959 and now one of the biggest tourist attractions in the area. The streets have a very spanish feel with the white house many displaying flowers. The centre has the Balcon De Maro with its lovely views out over the Mediterranean, beside the balcon the church, Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de las Maravillas dating from the 17 th Century. Just outside the village is another famous monument, the Aguila Aqueduct which originally provided water for the sugar mill.

Nerja centre
Nerja town centre is full of character with its narrow winding streets in the old part of town and its more modern side to the west where you will also find the pretty Verano Azul Park. One of the main focal points of the town is the beautiful Balcon de Europa, named by King Alfonso XII, because of its magnificent views. It is also home to the 17 th Century El Salavador Church. The Balcon now is a popular meeting place, with its many cafes and street artists.
The town has numerous tapas bars, restaurants and shops. Many of the towns beaches and coves are within easy walking distance. The houses in the town centre range from the older townhouses and apartments to the new apartment blocks most of which have been constructed in the last 5 years.

Parador
The Parador area is a very popular area due to its close proximity to both the town and the beaches. The walk to the centre of town is only 5 minutes along one of the oldest streets, Carabeo. In this part of Town you will find a number of the more traditional Tapas bars which are often missed by holiday makers.
Around this part of Town are a number of popular urbanisations of both townhouses and apartments as well as some of the larger detached villas that are a rarity so close to the centre.

Penoncillo Further out to the west is the new high quality development at Calaceite, which will be home to a new 18 hole golf course. This area has stunning sea views and many facilities within easy reach. The proposed marina is also planned to be in this area. Penoncillo beach is the nearest long beach with its lovely beachside apartments and a good selection of beach bars and restaurants.

Torrox Costa
Torrox is divided into two main areas of Torrox Pueblo and Torrox Costa, both have a very different feel to them. Torrox Pueblo is nestled into the hillside with narrow streets and traditional townhouses and is more of a residential area but you will find it is inhabited by many different nationalities. The facilities here are excellent with a variety of shops, health services and schools. At the heart of the village is a lovely Plaza with a choice of bars and restaurants.

Torrecilla
The Torrecilla Beach area of Nerja is well located for the town centre and is close to the Rui Monica Hotel. This is one of the flattest areas of town and is a good area for people buying to use as a second home or holiday rental as it is popular for holiday makers all year round. None of the apartments here are more than a few minutes from the beach and many are front line.
This area includes a good selection of shops and restaurants and on a Tuesday the nearby Nerja market is a popular attraction. The area is well served by the local bus service.
